A little about Faith Formation at St. Richard Parish
Weekly faith formation sessions normally run from September through April. The program is designed for 4-year olds through 8th graders. The curriculum and activities are designed to insure diocesan catechetical guidelines are met for each age/grade level. Three different types of classes are offered, but all follow the same curriculum and required attendance at certain additional activities. These activities throughout the catechetical year are designed to promote fellowship and a sense of community with all of our families involved in the program. Classes for on site and home sites are staffed by volunteers who function as teachers and aides, or co-teachers., while the Family Program is taught by the child’s parent.
Christian Initiation of Children (C.I.C.)
This is a process designed to prepare children and teenagers who, for different reasons, have not received the sacraments in the traditional manner. We will tailor a program to help your child to receive the sacraments of our faith and grow in understanding and love of the Lord.
Reconciliation and Eucharist for Youth
Children normally receive first Reconciliation and first Eucharist in the spring of the second grade. For further information, please contact the Faith Formation Office. Adults receive these Sacraments at the Easter Vigil in accordance with the RCIA process.
Youth are confirmed in the fall of the Ninth Grade. For further information, please contact the Faith Formation Office. Adults are confirmed at the Easter Vigil in accordance with the RCIA process.
